Dear Friends,

In collaboration with the Council of Europe – European Youth Foundation, the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) is delighted to announce our upcoming event, “”EU)krainian Youth Shaping Liberal Democracy”. This significant workshop will be held from July 18th to 21st, 2024, in the historic city of Tbilisi, Georgia, where Russian aggression is also present. Application is possible through the registration form.

Today’s democracies face profound challenges, marked by rising populism and the pervasive influence of disinformation. Addressing these issues is crucial not only for safeguarding democratic processes but also for ensuring social cohesion and maintaining trust in our institutions during these polarizing times. The seminar aims to facilitate dynamic and inclusive discussions centered on the current political situation in Ukraine, focusing on the essence of political ideologies and biases we possess that might shape the narrative built around the conflict.

The program will address how political ideologies can shape narratives and discuss the current political situation in Ukraine under the light of different ideologies. It will equip activists with a deeper understanding of political ideologies, enhancing their effectiveness in proposing constructive alternatives and fostering collaborative efforts for a more just and equitable society. By the end of the seminar, participants will have developed a political compass with the help of artificial intelligence tools, technology and coding. These compasses are digital products that can be used by participants to  foster political dialogue in their countries and assess their own ideas, beliefs and biases.

Objectives:

  • Engage with young activists to discuss and understand political ideologies, contemporary speeches, alliances, and public policies.
  • Identify the predominant political ideologies within the group and their social and political motivations.
  • Facilitate the exchange of political ideas and values, encouraging democratic discussions about the future participants envision for their societies.
  • Address the challenges posed by populist and polarizing ideologies to democracy and freedom.
  • Utilize digital tools, including AI, to enhance youth engagement in their home countries.
  • Demonstrate that differences in political ideologies reflect diverse approaches to improving citizens’ lives, rather than disparities in patriotism or national loyalty.

Product:

Our final goal is to create a political compass through a collaborative process, employing AI tools and a questionnaire developed by participants.
