In collaboration with the Center Party International Foundation, the International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY) is thrilled to announce our upcoming event, “Pressing Climate Issues in the Middle East and Central Asia — Libel’s Writing Workshop.” This workshop will take place from September 19th to 22nd, 2024, in the historic city of Amman, Jordan. Applications are open until the 04th of August.
What We Do
Our reasons for training journalists and activists – the cascade effect
The workshop will have two aims. Firstly, it will focus on the severe climate challenges, including devastating floods, droughts, record-breaking temperatures, violent storms, and water scarcity that the Middle East and Central Asia are currently grappling with. These issues are not only impacting the present but also jeopardizing the future of these regions.
Secondly, the workshop will discuss how best to write about these subjects, focusing on how to structure texts and arguments, researching topics, as well as different writing formats and styles and when to use these.
This training aims to enhance our collaboration with regional partners in the Middle East and expand our cooperation with the Central Asia region. Through capacity building and raising awareness, we seek to highlight and address climate issues that often go unnoticed due to ongoing conflicts in the area.

- Engage with young activists to discuss and understand the situation of different countries from the Middle East and Central Asia related to the climate emergency.
- Identify region-specific climate challenges.
- To have a cascade effect and start discussing effects on climate with a liberal perspective.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for motivated young leaders, academics, activists, and journalists passionate about climate change. Applicants should be eager to share their perspectives and approaches to addressing pressing climate issues as well as their writing practices, while learning from others.

This workshop is supported by the Center Party International Foundation. Accommodation, international travel and meals of the participants are covered.
Participants are expected to arrive on September 19, 2024 before 12:00, and leave on September 22, 2024 after 14:00.
